Men's Guide to Friday Health Plan

Did you know only 60% of guys take advantage of the free annual physical exam included in their health insurance plan?

It’s true. And the other 40% only go to see the doctor if something is very, very wrong. Read: broken bone, pneumonia, terrible back pain, nasty skin infection.

For some reason, guys simply don’t use their health plan benefits and free preventive services as much as they should. And we’re here to help change that. So, in honor of Men’s Health Month, we’re outlining all of the free healthcare services guys get with their Friday health plans.

Guys, your health plan includes a bunch of convenient $0 services that will help you stay healthy and keep your costs down throughout the year. Be sure to give this a quick read to get the most out of your plan:

Set up your annual physical exam

An annual physical exam is a free comprehensive preventive exam with a primary care doctor. We know, we know, you might not even have a regular doctor, but we can help you find one near you. Check out our doctor search,

Your physical exam includes certain preventive tests, screenings, and vaccinations. It’s also great for discussing your health history and health goals with your doctor who can make referrals and recommend any further tests that need to be done.

Best of all, this visit is included in every Friday health plan. And while you can get it done any time of the year, we suggest getting it done sooner than later (we’re just about halfway through the year).

Physical exam included tests and screenings:
  • Blood pressure Screening
  • Cholesterol Screening
  • Aspirin Use (to prevent cardiovascular disease and colorectal cancer for adults 50 to 59 years with high cardiovascular risk)
  • Colorectal Screening
  • Diabetes Type 2 Screening
  • Depression screening
  • Diet counseling
  • Lung cancer screening (for adults 55-80 lung cancer because they’re heavy smokers or have quit in the past 15 years)
  • Hepatitis B Screening
  • HIV Screening
  • Obesity Screening
  • Syphilis Screening
  • Statin preventive medication
  • Tobacco Use Screenings and Preventions
Get healthy, stay healthy with $0 generic drugs

With Friday’s Bronze, Silver, and Gold plans (not Bronze HSA or catastrophic), preferred generic drugs are also $0. You can see that list right here.

You also have access to a wide range of vaccines to keep you in shipshape. You can get these done at your primary care doc’s office or through a local, pharmacy:

Don’t want to wait a week to see the doctor? Use Teladoc

As an extra benefit, you can speak to a doctor online or over the phone for $0. It’s honestly the fastest and (in many members' opinions) the best way to get help for a wide range of non-emergency illnesses, like sinus problems, respiratory infection, allergies, urinary tract infection, the cold, and flu symptoms.

Access Teladoc through your Member Portal or visit Teladoc.

(This is an added service to your plan, so it does not go toward your deductible.)

Take advantage of your free doctor visits (in addition to your free wellness exam)

Whether it’s that nagging head cold that won’t seem to go away or that weird rash you’ve been meaning to get checked out, you’re covered at no cost. You have unlimited primary care visits*in addition to your annual physical exam.

*On many plans. Per ACA guidelines, if your doctor does additional tests or provides treatments, you may have an additional cost
